Hands-on learning at our Orchard farm!
...Apple Picking and Observation Bee-Hive!
From Labour Day to Thanksgiving, we welcome local daycare and school groups to enjoy a guided outing in our orchard. Custom tours for other groups may also be arranged. Contact us for pricing and details.
Organized children's groups are taken on a guided tour to the orchard where they learn about growing apples, orchard safety guidelines, and how to properly pick an apple. Each child may enjoy a fresh apple off the tree and takes home their own bag of apples. The group organizer receives a complimentary 10-pound bag and volunteers accompanying the group are welcome to pick their own apples at a discount rate. New this year is our Observation Bee Hive - safely watch a working hive and find the Queen Bee!
School group tours complement the Ontario Science and Technology curriculum covering aspects related to apple growing:
- Needs and Characteristics of Living Things
- Growth and Changes in Plants
- Daily and Seasonal Changes
There is ample parking for buses, and the group may stay to enjoy a snack or lunch in our picnic area.
